Language Features of Transgenders as Their Gender Representation in Digital Culture

Huge number of researches suggest many differentiations between men and women’ language features. Most studies proclaim to be more aggressive, verbal, have higher self-esteem while women tend milder soft-spoken. However, how about the transgenders? This study aims see what features used by transgenders represented in digital media which this case, YouTube. The will conducted using qualitative data analysis. Starting with collecting from four videos taken Jimmy Kimmel, Allure, About Ethan, Netflix’s YouTube channels. These then analyzed theory women’s Robin Lakoff, men’s Jennifer Coates, gender presentation LaFrance Vial. result shows that transgender use six out ten female features, maintaining two Meanwhile, transmen maintain three study’s results implies need considered as a multidimensional construct must expanded for identity recognized vast world.
